Keep the Rally date. 19th November 2011

 Bowral will host  a Rally against Mining within the Shire. Council at a recent meeting voted to allow the Community to stage a Public Rally to provide an opportunity for concerrned residents to express their feelings  and "outrage" at the potential threats associated with Coal Seam Gas and any New Mining Propsals in the Shire that will pose a threat to the environment  Southern Highlands Coal Action Group will otganise the meeting with the assistance of Council's Community Coal Reference Panel, which is Chaired by Clr Whipper.

Tell your friends to get ready to make public your feelings about the potential threat to land values, rural land, groundwater and surface water as well as our fragile ecosystems here in the Wingecarribee.


Deputy Mayor Clr Larry Whipper successfully moved the following motion:

1)That: Council: permit  a Public Rally in Bowral during on Saturday 19th of November 2011 on behalf of the local Community to allow them to express their views on the potential negative impacts upon the local Shire’s environment, groundwater, agriculture, land values  and potential damage to Sydney’s Water Catchment.

2) That: this matter Council’s Community Coal Reference Panel to assist in the preparation of the rally and to engage with the local Community.

3) That: an invitation be extended to Hume/Cockatoo Coal/Planet Gas to attend the Rally and address the people of the Wingecarribee Shire..

  1. I am reserving my judgement on this issue as I do not know enough about the negative impacts. I fail to understand why there should be any objection to a select few test bores.
